When they first announced the bracket and there was immediate grumbling about ND's absence, I actually think the response was a bit more balance -- some people thought they'd been screwed and some thought it was fair. I saw a number of commentators openly question the process because ND had been ranked within the top 12 but was out of the CFP, so on the surface at least it seemed screwy.

Then ND made a series of decisions that just made them look AWFUL and now almost no one is on their side. When the player voted to skip a bowl game, it looked a little petty but people were still pretty understanding. The initial statements from ND, including Bevaqua, were of the "we're just shocked" variety and didn't seem that vindictive. But then Bevaqua went on his self-pity tour which got increasingly embarrassing, and now we're a few days on and NO ONE is on Notre Dame's side. They look like petty losers and their head coach is chatting with with the NY Giants and the linebackers coach already departed for Michigan State.

If I'm a top high school recruit, I'm looking at that mess and just thinking "huh, perhaps I look elsewhere this year." It's not even about the program or their opponents (ND is still an elite program and will be a contender for the CFP next year regardless of what happens with this MOU). It's just... the stench of loserdom. Plus you have to go live in South Bend.[/quote]

You forget -- they have Marcus Freeman. The players and actually the entire school community love him. Great coach. Give the first episode of Here Come the Irish a watch...it really gives you the insight into the rich culture of program.[/quote]
