Republican Senator Susan Collins received a new warning about her reelection in Maine in a new poll released on Monday.

Newsweek reached out to a Collins spokesperson, as well as the campaigns of Democratic candidates Governor Janet Mills and Graham Platner, for comment via email.

Why It Matters
Collins is the only Republican senator up for reelection in a state carried by former Vice President Kamala Harris last November. She is a top target for Democrats hoping to retake control of the Senate, particularly if a 2018-style blue wave manifests next November. But Collins, viewed as perhaps the most centrist Republican in the Senate who has long been popular in the state, has won in tough environments for Republicans in the past. The race is viewed as among the most competitive ahead of the 2026 midterms and is set to draw heavy investment from both major parties.

What to Know
Collins trailed a generic Democratic candidate in a new Cygnal poll released on Monday, which pointed to extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies as a way to improve her standing among Mainers. The poll was first reported by Politico.[/quote]
