POLITICS & GOVERNMENT Trump’s approval falls in NC, while Roy Cooper widens polling lead over GOP By Danielle Battaglia
In the poll, Cooper led Whatley by 8.7 points. This is the third poll Carolina Journal has done since August. Cooper has held a lead each time, holding a similar 8.2 point lead in August, but only a 4.2 point lead in September. Similar results are being found by other pollsters. Carolina Journal also polled Cooper against Whatley’s primary opponent, Don Brown, a veteran and attorney. Cooper still led but this time by 10 points.
When Trump sent ICE to Charlotte, I knew this race was a rap for Roy Cooper.
He was an idiot for picking Charlotte. Picking on a purple state is a bad plan.

Republican Senator Susan Collins received a new warning about her reelection in Maine in a new poll released on Monday.
Newsweek reached out to a Collins spokesperson, as well as the campaigns of Democratic candidates Governor Janet Mills and Graham Platner, for comment via email.
Why It Matters
Collins is the only Republican senator up for reelection in a state carried by former Vice President Kamala Harris last November. She is a top target for Democrats hoping to retake control of the Senate, particularly if a 2018-style blue wave manifests next November. But Collins, viewed as perhaps the most centrist Republican in the Senate who has long been popular in the state, has won in tough environments for Republicans in the past. The race is viewed as among the most competitive ahead of the 2026 midterms and is set to draw heavy investment from both major parties.
What to Know
Collins trailed a generic Democratic candidate in a new Cygnal poll released on Monday, which pointed to extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies as a way to improve her standing among Mainers. The poll was first reported by Politico.
She always wins comfortably in the end.
It's a long way til election day still, but I think whoever challenges her has a good shot. Especially after this election day. People are pissed at the status quo and Susan's trademark frown of inaction isn't going to be popular.

MAGA's absence of analytical ability on display yet again!
No one has said Trump is a king. However, it is indisputable that Trump, Miller, Vought, Project 2025 and all of the mindless little cretins who support him would like to buck the history and genesis of the United States and vest in the president very authoritarian powers (remember the many times Trump has said Ï can do what I want. I am president). And who else has those sorts of power but a king! People are not complaining he is a king, they are trying to prevent him from becoming a complete authoritarian with a weak congress and who refuses to be answerable to the courts.
