I’ve got a family of MAGAs, my older sister and her husband and two kids. We were very close and our kids spent a lot of time together even with the large gaps in age. My mother is failing at 90 years old and the MAGAs don’t even call never mind visit. She’s been a long time widow. It falls on me and my younger sister to help her as she’s been legally blind for three years. We take care of getting paid help, taking her to doctors, grocery shopping, everything. My mother did everything for us, whatever we needed. I should have anticipated this as the MAGAs were the same with my bil mother. We were at a wedding recently and I couldn’t even look at them. What a disappointment they are. They suck up every hate filled lie that comes out of Trumps mouth.
For several years, the democrats put illegal aliens ahead of citizens. Closed schools and after school activities to house illegal immigrants. Pumped up funds to hotels at tax payer expense to house them (in massive quantities). Insisted on govt employees and contractors getting covid shots to keep their jobs while allowing those crossing the border we not required to have them. The key word was immigrants were "vaccine eligible". Two different standards. One for immigrants and one for second class citizens. What a disappointment democrats are. Now they're feeling the sting of it. Sorry, not sorry.
Stop watching your Fox News garbage. Many of the migrants housed using FEMA funds were here lawfully seeking asylum or pending other immigration proceedings. From a humanitarian standpoint and for the benefit of local residents, it is better to have a place to house them than leaving them out on the streets or cramming into slums. If you disagree with the current asylum and immigration process, then this is something that is the responsibility of congress to fix. I’m not saying democrats have done a perfect job on handling everything. But one easy solution to reduce unlawful immigration would be to enforce eVerify and go after the companies who employ undocumented immigrants. But that would upset donors and so it’s easier to just vilify poor, mostly brown, people instead. Also the reason most people are upset about tax dollars being used to help migrants is the sense of unfairness because why are citizens not being given the same help? But democrats want to also help citizens better afford things like healthcare instead of providing tax breaks to the wealthy. I will truly never understand why someone who gets upset over an undocumented immigrant being given emergency treatment (due to EMTALA) instead of left to bleed out on the sidewalk isn’t upset about someone like Musk infiltrating government and awarding his own companies federal grants without having to contractually compete? Also the school closures in NY were migrant schools closed to create emergency winter housing. It was not ideal as it disrupted the education of migrant children, but let’s not pretend like you’re wildly concerned about their wellbeing. Re: the COVID vaccine mandates, that was challenged and lost in court. The Biden administration followed the court’s ruling and backtracked on it unlike the current administration which thinks they have plenary power and that judges cannot control Trump’s use of the military.
