They will either create one or take an existing club (probably an old DA one) and they will play in the GA.

Ok so assume your first part - the Spirit creates an academy.  What is the advantage to playing in GA vs ECNL? Why do you assume the default is they would go to GA?

This is an easy one, GA. Now that GA is self-sanctioning, they are an easier body to partner with than a league that is sanctioned two levels below NWSLs relation to the federations. With GA, NWSL only has one partner. With ECNL, NWSL would have to have two, and every decision would need to be approved at two levels.

In retrospect it seems like GA maybe has a plan?
