I think what we are losing sight of is that while this might feel like “just another” middle eastern fight it’s actually between two *very* different countries. On the one hand, you have Israel, and a lot of the people there are Jewish and speak Hebrew. On the other hand, you have Iran, and a lot of people there are Muslim and speak Farsi. (I know what you’re thinking—yes, Farsi! Although Arabic is really popular in the Middle East, Iran actually didn’t adopt it—they stuck with Farsi!) how will this end??? Your guess is as good as mine!
Well a quick game of numbers would indicate Iran would beat Israel. Israel has what? 9 million people, 20% of those are Arabs or immigrants (non Jews). Another 10% are orthodox or ex pats who don’t fight. A large number are also elderly or above 50 and can’t fight. Women and children also cannot fight. What does that leave them with? You see why they want the US to fight their war? They also have two to three territories they have to occupy (the West Bank, Gaza, and now Lebanon). For some reason, Netanyahu is confident that all of these fronts are sustainable despite Israel’s declining population which supersedes or matches the hundreds of thousands killed or missing in Gaza. Iran has 90 million people. Even with a refugee crisis to Europe, they still have a significant advantage militarily over Israel. Tehran has 8 million to 10 million people-the same population of the entire country of Israel. Take out population and just discuss Land mass and area. Israelis cannot fight Iran. They can fight Lebanon which is why they’re there. They don’t start fights they cannot win. They expect us to do it. Even Israel’s assumption that they at least had air superiority over Iran fell in flames (literally) as Irans cheap ballistic missiles were able to destroy Israeli infrastructure, hurt their economy, take lives, and also leave the country in underground bunkers. The iron dome and all the other seven air defense/missile defense systems they have failed
