Taylor's a liar!!! She's fake and phoney and this just proves it. She can't talk her way out of it. Also Kanye really did make her famous. Sure she won that VMA but it would've gotten half the attention if he hadn't jumped on stage. That really launched her and gained her more fans who felt bad for her. Like it or not....its true
Are you forgetting Taylor was a big deal in country music before she crossed over?
That's really not too hard, IMO. Not for a young, slim blonde girl.
Slim and blonde like Darius Rucker?
There is one black guy boy in country music. There are a whole lot of skinny white girls. False equivalency
Google Mickey Guyton. That is a female, BTW.
So one black guy, one black girl. How many ruggedly handsome white guys and skinny big haired white girls are there?
There have been several collaborations with country and rap in the last 5 years.
Are you and the salad gate posted being purposefully obtuse? This aside has nothing to do with country collaborations. It has to do with the fact that Taylor, as a (at the time) very cute innocent blonde white girl who was clearly going to grow up into a beautiful thin blonde white woman had an advantage in the country music world. PP then cites Darius Rucker, a man who was already a very famous and successful musician as being a successful black man in country music. And then pitches a black girl who (I assume) is big in country music. Then tells me about #saladgate which I did google and apparently is how a super douchey country music guy said that country radio can't be successful because men are the lettuse in the country music salad and women the tomatoes. Which is quite revolting. I'm not sure it contradicts the idea that beautiful blondes have a legup in country music however since apparently the only two female musicians regularly cracking the top 10 in country are Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert (two blonde white women!). So the original thing that led to this disagreement, which was a poster saying it wasn't that hard for a cute precocious blonde to make it in country music is actually accurate. Which isn't to say that there aren't a lot of buxom blondes singing in dive bars in Nashville who are never going to make a dime, but if you happen to be a super talented white skinny blonde girl, your chances are way better than anyone else's.
addendum... you chances are way better than anyone else...who isn't a ruggedly handsome, muscly, jean wearing brunette all american boy
Woah let's go back. Someone said she wasn't that famous etc. Someone else said it wasn't that hard for her to get in. With her look. It went on an irrelevant tangent from there. Here's the truth. No matter who you are, it's hard to get into country. Every single year, hundreds and hundreds of young people head over to Nashville to make it. They ALL sing beautifully. They ALL play an instrument or three. Some stay forever, some leave, some in between. I lived in a small town where a young lady moved there after hs. The small town paper did a huge report on her, because that's exciting to them..and she was basically saying how she had been there a year. Was continuing to work had, trying to get a contract, practiced her heart out in her tiny apartment. Anyways, whoever you are it's hard to get in. And it's hard to stay in. And be at the top. Most acts last 2 albums and they're done. There is 0 demographic advantage, even for blonde.twigs. None. You get picked up if you have a look, sound, potential that the execs are looking for in that moment. That's your one advantage. That luck and timing coincide with your attempt. Same as other music genres!!! So no need to dis on her because of how she looks.
