My family didn’t take a vacation every year. When we did, they weren’t splash outs. Usually we stayed in modest hotels or with relatives or very close family friends. I remember going to Ocean City, NYC, and Philly. Otherwise, it was visiting relatives who had farms —a welcome break from West Baltimore. DH’s only vacations growing up were to stay with relatives. The attraction was the people they got to spend time with rather than the physical setting. [/quote]
