I don't understand fed employees. You have guaranteed salaries and jobs 4 life but all you do is complain, complain, complain. My neighbors are an GS-14 and 15. The government paid their student loans for them, and other than their mortgage, they are debt free and living their best lives. They just bought a vacation home in Shenandoah and take multiple vacations each year. Why are y'all complaining again?
I don’t understand stupid posts like this. The vast majority of Feds will never become GS 13/14/15 in their entire career.
What’s a job in the federal government that isn’t on a track to a GS-13, and the employees don’t already make more in total compensation than private sector counterparts?
Huh? No job I had after GS11 had a ladder or a career track. To get a promotion I had to apply for new jobs. If I’d stayed in my job for 20 years and was the best person on the planet, I still couldn’t have gotten a raise. My first job was a 7/9/11 and I was promoted based on job performance.
I wasn’t talking about ladders, although I’ve certainly seen ladders go to GS-13. I meant there’s a realistic career path for most people in professional fed jobs to get GS-13+, provided they’re reasonably good at their jobs. Honestly, at my agency, you don’t even have to be all that good to get to a GS-13. Past that the expectations for promotions get quite a bit higher.
