Wow, VDA poster is getting pretty defensive … must have struck a cord of truth … 😃
No, I despise spinny nitwits who would never say anything you say on here to any of the VDA coach's face. You hide behind a display to call out people who can't defend themselves. I'm quite certain your DD is just as phony as you. Stop blaming VDA coaches for your feeble attempt to recapture your pathetic adolescence.
Ok, thanks VDA wonk. I would say it to his/her face by the way, and he/she can defend themself here on this forum. Here’s the deal parents: FCV and Union do nothing for their boys and their non-GA girls regarding “recruitment”. They do little to develop top players. However, they both have historically done a good job of recruiting top girls (already developed and good) to their GA/ECNL teams at older ages and having these girls who’d get recruited by college teams anyhow, get recruited under their banner. True. To compare Union and FCV, NM is a better coach than BP, but BP is a better marketer than NM. Take your pick. Both have placed several girls at G’town, VT and UVA, for example. Whether they get playing time once there or not is really up to the kid and their college coach at that point. VDA has a few good girls teams at a few older age groups. Guess what? Those top girls also get recruited. Also their best coach (MW) came from BRYC, so again ‘recruiting’ (of a coach) not Development reigned here. BRYC and Loudoun are simply struggling on the girls ECNL front. Mainly due to poor coaching and marketing at the older ages. For Loudoun this means that despite good younger teams, their top girl players get picked off by Union and FCV at the older ages due to NM’s superior coaching and connections and BP’s superior marketing (and CZ’s connections). Not sure what’s happening at BRYC (other than they lost coach MW) albeit for the teams I have watched they are decently coached, so best guess is that they are simply getting squeezed out in talent due to the glut of girls ECNL + FCV options in this area. Arlington has always had more success and focus with boys than girls, and Bethesda’s best girls coach is a former Rush guy (i.e. they recruited the coach (KL) and his teams - so again the club development spin once again falls flat). So again, no “club” is consistently outperforming anyone across all ages and genders. Coaches and kids outperform, not clubs. If your kid has a serious dedication and love for soccer and wants to play at the next level, have your kid find the best combo of coach/marketer (NM, BP, KL, or MW for example) and players for their age/gender and don’t believe the hype being slung at you on this forum regarding “clubs”. If you’re a parent you will not be offended at this advice. If you’re a club wonk, then you will. Signed - the “no club is better than other clubs” Poster. PS - please don’t reply acting like you’re me and confuse my point with yours. Thanks.
