Black immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean come from upper middle class and educated professionals, not the poor laborers and servants there. You racists always ignore the huge advancements of U.S. blacks since partial enforcement of civil rights. There has been a huge increase in bachelors, masters, and professional degrees and incomes and standards of living. [/quote]

Of course things have gotten better, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many challenges still. Things have also gotten better for women but they still are behind men in many ways, such as representation in government, and they still make less than men on average—82 cents for every dollar a man makes. So should we as a society stop striving for more equality because “things have gotten better”?

The problem is that you paint things in such black and white terms.

Women also make less because of choice of profession in fields that pay less, they also generally and historically negotiate salary less forcefully than men, and they take a more collaborative approach to things rather than this cut throat attitude men have. However, women are eclipsing men in education these days and will soon dominate the world.[/quote]
