I've discussed concerned with them about a school's renewal/expansion application and was heard, and brought up with the school. This was a Tier 1 school with a long wait list, and they did care. I think it does depends on what you are asking them for and whether it's within their purview (which is pretty narrowly defined by the laws governing charters in DC) or a matter that falls within the purview of the individual school's board.
