I certainly wouldn't call MLK day a 'fluff day' but [b]I love the idea of holding school that day and either doing a teach-in or a required community service day.[/b]  Similar days (presidents day?) could be handled similarly.  However, I think state law requires those days off school.  [/quote]

Well, I hate that idea.  My kid has to do enough SSL hours, so no thanks on more 'required community service'.  Often that just ends up being that they have the kids work for free for an organization that is making money.  [/quote]
