I'm miserable. Everyone thinks I am happy. I have someone who loves me, and treats me well. I have great friends. An acquaintance committed suicide a little while ago. I kept thinking how lucky they were. I'm not suicidal. I'm just tired.
Please get help. A good friend's husband died by suicide almost a year ago. We were all SHOCKED. Seemed like the nicest, happiest guy. Left behind two young kids and a devastated wife who will always wonder how she could have helped prevent this. And all of his friends are feeling terrible too because we all thought he was "happy".
It's problematic among men, they account for a overwhelming majority of suicides, over 75%. There's nothing out there to help them. Men are told by society they aren't supposed to talk about their feelings and studies show women are turned off by vulnerable men. There's no place to go for many of them, they live in silent anguish while the rest of the world looks the other way. I know, Inwas one of them, and finding help is hard. My wife continually denied my feelings and was distant and bitter. Rarely was I asked how Inwas doing or if Inwas even ok. In any case, it's no surprise about your friend. When I attempted to end my life my family was shocked.
