For JH, I would imagine the wells of potential things to shill are drying up. First it was Christ, then funny family stories, now social Justice and recipes? I don’t know, I can’t imagine there are many more wells to tap. Or people who are interested for that matter. I watch shark tank and they always talk about the cost of customer acquisition and they discuss whether the customers are repeat customers. For Glennon and Jen, what’s the cost of acquiring a new consumer of their brand, buying their mugs, listening to their podcasts etc. and how long do they stick around? I would think the base of new 40 something upper middle class white women who would be their target are mostly tapped out. For Jen certainly and less so Glennon.
I think this is true and it seems to be reflected in the number of comments she gets on any given post. A few years ago it was hundreds. Now when she shills stuff it's a few at best. And even when she's not shilling the comments are way down. Jen still has her true believers but it seems the numbers are dwindling.
