The reality is, these groups would thrive regardless of war because progressives refuse to label them as anything but 'decent people but angry at the west'. Take a look here - you can't even call them terrorists without someone shouting that you are racist and that you hate brown people.

I dare say Obama's drone program isn't helping relations, so if you want to place blame, spread it evenly. And in hindsight, pulling out of Iraq might not have been a great decision, but then, Obama has no military experience, never mind real-world work experience. And has a history of not listening to his advisors.

The difference between you and these military men and women is that they are there and see the evil face-to-face. Chris Kyle knew which individuals were good and which ones were evil, and made sure to distinguish between them while there. When you see the atrocities these terrorists inflict first-hand, you tend not to see the mission as failed. You simply see individuals who need your help.
