THAT is racism. Not thinking Kyle is more important to them at this time.
If I am white am I not allowed to say Larry Bird is better than Michael Jorda? 99% of the country could disagree with me but it does not mean I am racist. If I said "I don't think blank people should be in basketball." That is racist.
Why people can't understand the difference is why race is brought into every news story.
No...it derailed when some smartass brought up that AS did better than Selma.
But it isn't racist. It was showing that people do think a vet can be a hero, not just MLK.

So snipers get to come home and kill people, beat people, and accuse the federal government of killing dozens of Americans without due process?
We ask them to do atrocious thinks to protect our county, lack the ability to manage mental illness when they return, then you sit iny our warm homes with your high speed internet and degrees you don't use judging them.
He was a simplistic minded person whose dichotomous view of the world (us good, them.bad, ooga booga) allowed him to take delight in killing other human beings. I absolutely feel comfortable criticizing people like him, including the mouth breathing opportunists in our government who led us into an unjustified war by exploiting the ignorant prejudices of people like him, and which accomplished nothing more than to make us less safe. Chris Kyle loved what he did; no one asked him to do shit. He's not MY hero.
Classic dcum judgmentalism.
No. I'm just a person who can think critically, and for myself - not a flag waving, unquestioning sheep. Baa-aaa!
No, you come across as a mannered poser, actually. Or a troll. I'll see the film and determine its value.
Go for it. See the film. It's not a documentary, it's entertainment, and it doesn't change the basic facts of who Chris Lyle was, what he did, and the disgusting ways he glorified his acts in his book.
Chris LYLE? If you are going to denigrate the man's name, at least get it right.
Liberals make me sick.

People were going after Chris Kyls rather viciously over unconfirmed and dubiously controversial statements. People brought up MLK had his share of omissions/indiscretions--yet people still can few his actions in a context and deem them extremely praiseworthy. Given that two movies came out at the SAME time with questions raised about both of them, I think it's an interesting and valid comparison.
This whole thread started because the people that were pointing out that Chris Kyle wasn't a perfect Superman hero and did have flaws were being shouted down by the "'Murica, fuck yeah" crowd.

The question is whether someone who holds MLK in less regard than a soldier with 160 kills is a racist. I have yet to hear one of those posters actually express a non-racist logic to explain this point of view.
The interesting part of your question is your lack of acknowledgement of what those kills acomplished. Are you happy Obama 'got' Bin Laden? Thank a sniper
You have no idea what I do or do not know about Chris Kyle. But I have repeatedly asked for a reasoning which justifies the poster's comparison of Kyle to MLK. If you would like to offer one, please do.
Who are you. You are obsessed with one person showing comparisons. The only thing someone mentioned was the irony that Selma bombed at the box office on MLK weekend while Sniper broke records. Now all you keep talking about is racism, racism, racism.
The total gross for American Sniper is now above $200 million! Definitely a blockbuster.
But it looks like Selma has turned a profit, so relax. Almost as many people have seen Selma as the Paddington movie and it surely will outperform Mortdecai.

nice try but no. ISIS wouldn't gave a chance if the Baathists were still running Iraq.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I never said I thought we created them. That is YOU putting words in my mouth. I said that we created conditions that helped them thrive. Any reputable foreign policy analyst agrees. It's a sad fact that the war policies of GWB and his cronies were a complete and utter failure. And who paid the price? Military men and women who died and the American people at large through the rape of our economy to pay for it. We are LESS safe than we were. I would expect that the people being sent to execute these failed policies would be the most outraged of all.
The reality is, these groups would thrive regardless of war because progressives refuse to label them as anything but 'decent people but angry at the west'. Take a look here - you can't even call them terrorists without someone shouting that you are racist and that you hate brown people.
I dare say Obama's drone program isn't helping relations, so if you want to place blame, spread it evenly. And in hindsight, pulling out of Iraq might not have been a great decision, but then, Obama has no military experience, never mind real-world work experience. And has a history of not listening to his advisors.
The difference between you and these military men and women is that they are there and see the evil face-to-face. Chris Kyle knew which individuals were good and which ones were evil, and made sure to distinguish between them while there. When you see the atrocities these terrorists inflict first-hand, you tend not to see the mission as failed. You simply see individuals who need your help.
