I can tell you that I often did not eat, or did not have healthy or okay meals. I can tell you that at school, I received most of my social interaction. I received access to therapy. I received access to supportive adults and full meals. Is that typical? No. Did I know at least a dozen other kids like me? Yes. I'LL SAY IT AGAIN: SCHOOL IS MORE THAN FRIENDS AND SITTING IN A CLASSROOM. You are being intentionally obtuse, or you lack the ability to imagine what children might be experiencing. Look up complex trauma.
I'm sorry for what you went through, and you're 100% correct. Just stop responding to the WTU trolls who are trying to convince everyone that DL is just fine for kids when we all know it's not.
NO ONE is saying DL is good. DL is the best option right now. BTW abused in an SES family - akin to what you saw with Claudia Conway the last few days. But basic needs met - do I have PTSD from it; issues with it; yes - but nothing that prevents me from thriving post therapy.
Not every child is the same. The difficulty of DL varies for different children. The impact of a neglectful childhood varies for different children. The poster above may be correct that DL doesn’t meet her specific definition of ACE. But she’s an idiot if she doesn’t understand that life can be extremely challenging — dare I say “traumatic”?! — at times in ways that don’t follow neat categories.
White people always want to feel like they are suffering, its ridiculous. Your children are not going through trauma specifically because of DL. I have no idea why the hell she shared her specific story that has nothing to do with a generalization I made about parents and their kids on this board. I assume you are feeding, clothing, spending time, bathing, etc. your kids. DL doesn't cause trauma for your kids, stop being dramatic and wanting to feel like your pain is soooo awful. Your not homeless because of covid. Your kids are not being hurt because they aren't in school. Not eating well because they aren't in school. Not going to their only happy place, Sorry you want to call me an ahole or a troll for saying the truth. A difficult experience doesn't automatically make it trauma. It's honestly creepy how badly some of you want your kids to be 'traumatized' by DL.
