PDA is the real deal. Even if DA is better, the fact that PDA brought home multiple titles says enough. PDA is a super club. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/ecnl-national-finals-conclude-with-u14-u17-title-matches-in-richmond-va/
PDA is one of those clubs that doesn't need a league. They went back to ECNL because they can charge for two ECNL teams and pull it off. It isn't about any ideological belief in this league versus that league. ECNL gave them two teams and a showcase to host. ANY club takes that deal 10 out of 10 times but not many clubs can demand that kind of a deal. There are only 5 or so clubs in the nation with that kind of cache though the rest are just not that different than any other club.
They went back to ECNL because players wanted to play high school and the coaches didn’t like having tactics dictated to them from Chicago. The “back to ECNL to charge more money theory” makes no sense. Not every club is a money grubbing cash grab.
Actually financials did play into the decision to go back. PDA practices 2x a week and then charges extra for a 3rd practice so coaches can supplement their income. They just recently starting introducing some changes at the tail end of the Spring season. DA dictates 4x a week practice, granted not everyone does that. PDA’s coaches are contractors and not FT salaried employees of the club. PDA was in a place where they had to increase # of practices with DA but not increase fees. Coaches were training more but getting paid less and certainly not happy. Combined with being a founding member of ECNL, the same HS they so discreetly discouraged previously, they decided to go back to ECNL. And yes 2 teams to a founding member...they have pull.
