Oh, please.  It isn't their humanity that makes them illegal, and no one is saying so.

Immigrant - a person who comes to a country where they were not born in order to settle there.

And for the record, I'm not interested in paying for anything they need either.  Let the social safety net in their own country provide for their basic needs.  El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Guatamala, etc., all have programs for low-cost housing, medical assistance, and employment.  It is true that these programs have had difficulty in meeting needs in an increasingly deteriorating conditions, but look at the state of welfare programs in the United States, and we're really not doing any better.  These countries are glad to send us their poor huddled masses.  Maybe we should arrange a one-for-one exchange?

What exactly was racist about my post?  I believe immigrants to this country should enter legally, and as part of that process, prove that their entering the country will be beneficial to the United States.  I don't care where they come from or what they look like.  Try entering any other country on the planet, and they'll expect the same thing.  I hate to break it to you, but that's not racism.[/quote]
