Oh, please. It isn't their humanity that makes them illegal, and no one is saying so.
Immigrant - a person who comes to a country where they were not born in order to settle there.
"Illegal" describes the manner in which they do so.
And for the record, I'm not interested in paying for anything they need either. Let the social safety net in their own country provide for their basic needs. El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Guatamala, etc., all have programs for low-cost housing, medical assistance, and employment. It is true that these programs have had difficulty in meeting needs in an increasingly deteriorating conditions, but look at the state of welfare programs in the United States, and we're really not doing any better. These countries are glad to send us their poor huddled masses. Maybe we should arrange a one-for-one exchange?
Yes, that's a fantastic idea!
A 1:1 exchange.
We get a hard working Latinx immigrant, and we send racists like you there. Then you'll be murdered in short order, making room for another 1:1 exchange!
Eventually, we'll get everyone out of there, and we'll be rid of all the racists here! Win-win!!!!
Good idea!!!! I'm all for it!

Nothing is free.
Someone has to pay for it. And I’m not interested in paying for college for illegal immigrants.
+1. Agree
Oh, where to even begin.....????
First, no human being is "illegal".
Second, these are the exact people who should be getting a hand-up, a little extra help to get them on even footing with your kids, who were already born on third base. Many of them can't afford tuition, so how are they supposed to go to college?
Or maybe you don't want them to? Maybe you want them as a permanent underclass, that you can exploit?
Either way, you sound like an absolutely cruel person.
If a registered Democrat votes for hogan, they should be banned from the party for perpetuity.

First of all, no one here believes you "are brown". Brown isn't a country. Brown isn't a place you're from. So stop pretending you're anything but a whitebread UMC'r like everyone else here, because no one is falling for it.
Secondly, "free" means "free to them" - not "no cost". Of course it costs money. And frankly, you already pay for lots of other things already, so a few more dollars isn't going to kill you. This is a very wealthy state, and that wealth needs to be spread around to make things more equitable. That's really all this is. No one is saying that college should be free for everyone, ok? Just the Dreamers. They, quite frankly, need and deserve it more than citizens because of what they're trying to overcome. They have to work so much harder in life just to get to where people like you start at from the beginning.
You should have to spend a week in the life of these people. Then you would understand what compassion means.
You're right. This is a wealthy state and Montgomery County is significantly wealthier than the rest of the state. I think you are correct that we need to distribute the wealth more evenly. So maybe there should be an extra Montgomery County tax to support the dreamer's college fund. After all, that's the most fair wait to redistribute the wealth, right? They have the most, so should miss the extra money the least.
Anonymous wrote:I would support that 100%.
But why just MoCo? Why not tax the wealth in other parts of the state?

How many tiki torches do you own?
Which comment? The one about government representing their community? Hate to break it to you, but the rest of the world thinks the same way. Japanese expect their government to take care of Japanese citizens, etc. etc. If they think taking in immigrants or refugees is good for their government and business, they will increase numbers, but it is all related back to the benefit for its current citizens.

Perhaps you just don't like the idea of brown people getting ahead, maybe? Yes, yes, that's probably it.
Nothing is free.

I am brown, so it has nothing to do with race. I don’t care what color the people are. If they are here illegally, I should not be paying for their college. Bad enough we pay for their healthcare.
