Many kids with lower NNAT and CogAT are found eligible.  I wish the committee didn't give as much weight to the GBRS.  It seems like the committee is ok with scores in the low 120s, so two 128 scores should be enough.  If the scores on this thread are accurate, it really seems like they are flipping coins or drawing names from a hat.  Why bother having kids take the NNAT and CogAT if in a lot of cases, again if the scores here are accurate, they seem to be completely disregarded.[/quote]

There is no such quick process like that.  It is a process where folders go on a table and are reviewed by a number of people (is it 5 or maybe 6?).  The reviews for all but the second to last one or maybe the last one are blind (no one knows how any one else voted.)  If the kid ends up with an equal vote the voting slip is removed and the file goes to a brand new table and is rejudged once again.  I think they need something like 4 out of 6 to okay it.  Whatever person is allowed to look (let's say judging person #5) can do so because if his judgement says yes, then that could put an end to the file altogether (i.e. if the requirement was 4 out of 6, then he would know the file was a definite in.)  For a kid to be rejected, that means quite a few different people looked at the file and the majority rejected the child for admission.[/quote]
