DP, but my kid had practically identical NNAT and CogAt, and GBRS scores. I posted upthread and several posters encouraged me to appeal (was not planning to until this thread convinced me otherwise and am still on the fence a little bit). We just did a WISC test and the FSIQ was 126. The psychologist also suspects DC might have some other issues which are not major, but she is recommending we follow up with the school. I don't know if it's better to wait and retake the CogAt next year after that has been addressed or just appeal this year and hope for the best?!

You already paid for the WISC, why not appeal? What was the verbal on the CogAT?

Can DC take two individually administered test? Like WISC V and CAS or Kaufman assessment battery.

I went and thought it was pretty great. I HIGHLY recommend reaching out to Belvedere's AART to see if she would review some/all of the presentation info with you. They really talked about the interaction between AAP and the elementary IB program. I think we will be transferring DC for next year. I was impressed.

Why bother having kids take the NNAT and CogAT if in a lot of cases, again if the scores here are accurate, they seem to be completely disregarded.

There is no such quick process like that. It is a process where folders go on a table and are reviewed by a number of people (is it 5 or maybe 6?). The reviews for all but the second to last one or maybe the last one are blind (no one knows how any one else voted.) If the kid ends up with an equal vote the voting slip is removed and the file goes to a brand new table and is rejudged once again. I think they need something like 4 out of 6 to okay it. Whatever person is allowed to look (let's say judging person #5) can do so because if his judgement says yes, then that could put an end to the file altogether (i.e. if the requirement was 4 out of 6, then he would know the file was a definite in.) For a kid to be rejected, that means quite a few different people looked at the file and the majority rejected the child for admission.

And I'll add if the underlined happens - where it is a tie that the people at the table half think the kid should be admitted and half think the kid shouldn't, then when the file goes to a new table, the old slip of paper (with the private votes) is removed and the new table of voters is never informed that that kid's file was previously tied at another table. This prevents the new table from being persuaded either to reject it (thinking, well some people have already thought this kid shouldn't get admitted) or accept it (for the same reasons.) The new table has no idea and begins reviewing the file fresh. Also, there is NO ONE from your local committee (from YOUR kid's school) who looks at the file at all for the final selection process. So your AART isn't looking at your kid's file and having any say at all whether he/she should be admitted at the final selection process. They only look at it for the local screening (i.e. to make sure it is complete before sending it on for further review.)
