The simple fact is that not all children are advanced, especially not in middle school. There is still a lot going on in those little brains of theirs. Some take off, some take longer. Creating "test in" middle schools (as another thread suggests) neglects the possibility of that development happening and altogether neglects that one and the same child might be advanced in one subject but not in another. I personally my prefer middle school models that are permeable, where kids can take that time to get it and take off and where kids can be advanced in one subject but not another or not yet.[/quote]
