Lifelong Democrat, graduate degree from a top Ivy. Native of NYC, currently DC resident with HHI of close to 350k HHI. Married with kids. While I do not love Trump, will definitely vote for him if he is the GOP nominee. Will likely NEVER vote Dem again.
Why? I have asked this question of several other democrats on this board and never got an answer
Many Dems - those in power - are hypocrites. They preach they love the "little person," yet they live in McMansions, send their kids to private school and drive fancy SUVs. same can be said of many in Bethesda/Ch Ch/DC literal elites - I'm done with the hypocrisy. At least the Conservatives say how they feel. IMO, the most dangerous folks are "educated" Libs. been around enough of them to learn that
So, because your party disappointed you, you decide to forgo your personal values altogether (you know, the ones the Dems are hypocrites about) and just join the people whose views are the complete opposite of yours because they are saying them out loud. I really don't know what kind of naiveté you expect on these boards, but when you make something up, I suggest you try harder. PP here-I am not giving up my values really-I am pro gay marriage, pro choice, anti illegal immigration, think something needs to be done about welfare-like major reforms (and no goodies for illegals), I think we need to help educate and support our OWN citizens, including children, homeless, vets, mentally ill, physically ill etc...before we start dropping millions of dollars on other countries. I think in order to help[ combat Terrorism, we need to really screen Muslims (the ones here already) and investigate Mosques (there are plenty of sleeper cells currently operating within our borders), and have a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to the US, like the one Trump proposed (and like Carter had in the 1970's). I also think our borders need to be secured-tightly. If we want to help the disadvantaged from 3rd world countries, I am all for it. Empower them in their OWN countries so they can sustain themselves in their OWN countries. Taking in Syrian refugees, for example does nothing except drain our resources, and nothing to help their OWN country. I think all the PC bullshit that is so rampant everywhere, will destroy this country, and the Black Lives Matter movement is nothing more than a smokescreen. Americans need to get up, wake up and work hard to improve themselves and this county. Hiding behind excuses of being victimized, and "offended", and kept down by the big bad "white man" is getting old. I like Carson more than Trump-but either would have my vote. Obama (whom I ignorantly voted for with such high hopes), has proven to be a disaster for this county....a MAJOR disaster. I sure hope Trump can make America great again-not too sure anyone else running right now is fully up to the task.

How do you reconcile the Republican objectives and actions with regard to the bolded?
np, life isn't all or nothing. Neither party is 100% on track for every issue. You pick and choose what is most important to you individually and society as a whole.
Yet, you listed those as your values, which by definition, are important to you. There is nothing on there that has not been done by the Republican part (on the negative side), and there is nothing on there that the Republican party has given a clear, workable plan on. So I remain confused about your stance.
