It's far from few apparently.  Also he wants to make it legal for them to get jobs, so that he doesn't have to pay to house and feed them.  He has been moving them from hotel to hotel from Manhattan to camp like facilities in outer boroughs on cheaper land to avoid tent cities sprouting.  Family shelter system had been overflowing in NYC for a long time already, no place for immigrants.  Police stations even in posh neighborhoods had been turned into processing centers and temporary housing.  Allowing these people to make a living is a right thing IMHO, although I am not a supporter of illegal immigration.  If they aren't going to deport them, the right thing to do is to have them earn their housing/food vs. create taxpayer issue and increase crime with so many young males from all over the world getting in. Providing them with work permits would also allow them to vote in local elections if the law the progressives in NY are pushing gets passed.  The law was struck down a year ago, but it is being appealed.  [/quote]
