MCPS is a shell of its past. First no SRO's, now more protection for the principals? WTF [twitter]https://twitter.com/WTOP/status/1676174009107619842?t=Xy-xYrNsV6opmbkJTxonpg&s=19[/twitter]
I find it interesting that MCPS is getting the blame here not the quoted problem:
And that aggressive behavior isn’t from students — it’s “parents and community members.

+1. The thread should be "The state of MCPS parents is atrocious"
+1. Schools are microcosm of society. So until we begin to fix those problems in earnest schools will continue to deteriorate. The funny thing is that studying other education systems in the world pointed to the fact that the problem that exist in the US education system actual are cultural in nature and larger than one school district. Don’t believe this, let’s look at Finland
Sure. Let’s look at the demographics of Finland. Are you prepared to fight for similar demographics here in Montgomery County?
Demographics is a part of it but also so is general culture. For instance when Finland revamped their education system they made Teaching a preferred career with top schooling required, respect, and high salary. They also have a National curriculum for basic education and while they have a few private schools, those too have to adhere to the same basic curriculum. This means that everyone buys into public education being great because you can’t just take your ball and go elsewhere. They also value time for other types of learning for kids, they value play/outside experiences. Additionally the value health and well being of adults with things like paid sick leave and family leave. Lastly they rank high in sustainable development because Govt, Business actually work together and not at the expense of one another and simple profits. Other countries our catching up or surpassing the US because we spend elections and legislative sessions on things like abortion which should have been settled law 50+ years ago. Because we won’t figure out national security and defense without billions in waste and making contractors rich. Because we don’t actual value elders and so want to keep raising the retirement age. Etc etc
Does Finland accept an unlimited number of undocumented asylum seekers? How many refugees does Finland accept from all over the world as compared to Montgomery County?
