Although everyone thought Flournoy, and it could still be she, progressives are very unhappy with her ties to defense contractors and that could derail her. Flournoy only served for the first 3 years of the Obama Administration.  What has she been doing for work for the last 8-9 years?  There were members of the national security team that stuck around for the full 8 years.

Duckworth would be a bold pick but she has very little management experience. She will definitely need an experienced team.

She was Asst Sec at the VA, has some management experience but true the Pentagon is a pretty massive bureaucracy. Johnson is more likely for DHS, and I suspect Biden wants to pick the first woman Sec Def.[/quote]
