Yes, I think it will be Bloom Raskin as well.

CNN says he's close to SecDef pick as well, and could be Duckworth. Although everyone thought Flournoy, and it could still be she, progressives are very unhappy with her ties to defense contractors and that could derail her. Although Duckworth wouldn't be a conventional pick, I think she'd do well with the right team. And it would position her well for the future.

Flournoy only served for the first 3 years of the Obama Administration. What has she been doing for work for the last 8-9 years? There were members of the national security team that stuck around for the full 8 years.

Duckworth would be a bold pick but she has very little management experience. She will definitely need an experienced team.

Is Jeh Johnson still in the mix?

She was Asst Sec at the VA, has some management experience but true the Pentagon is a pretty massive bureaucracy. Johnson is more likely for DHS, and I suspect Biden wants to pick the first woman Sec Def.

Not at all. He's known for being centrist/moderate, and will 100% not go after any of the grifters in the current administration. He also has a lifetime appointment; why trash that?

That’s what I seemed to read, too, but wanted confirmation.

I want fangs and claws. If someone doesn’t hold the GOP to task for the crimes they’ve committed, they’ll just come back worse next time.

Raskin would be a very weak pick, especially for a challenged economy. Not encouraging.

Because she supports consumer protections and some degree of regulation? She also researches market resilience.

Fine. Put her at the CFPB. But don't trust her with the economy.

Why not? Could you explain? I am not attacking you, I am not just familiar with the politics of the treasury and the different view points of the prospective appointees.

Most of the news sources don't have Bloom Raskin amongst the front-runners for Sec Treasury. Most list these three as the leading contenders:

- Lael Brainard, member of the Fed Reserve Board of Governors, economic advisor to Clinton and Treasury undersecretary for Obama
- Roger Ferguson, former vice chairman of the Fed Reserve, recently retired as CEO of fund manager Teachers Insurance
- Janet Yellen former chair of the fed Reserve , chair of White House Council of Economic Advisors under Clinton, and former member Fed Reserve board of Governors

This is just one of several sources to have that same list:

All of those are reasonable picks and qualified.

Who is going to be the Secretary of Decontamination, charged with removing the orange stain?

He's 68. How meaningful is a lifetime appointment at that point?

You can take senior status and work pretty much indefinitely. Trump’s sister is 83 and only retired last year because the giant NYT Trump family tax investigation prompted an inquiry and she did t feel like answering any questions.

Yeah, if Biden is going to go with an older white centrist “establishment pick”, Doug Jones makes a lot more sense. Personally, I prefer Yates.

I prefer Yates, but doubt she could get through.
