The topic of illegal immigration has been a hot one for Virginia, and pretty much falling along party lines. In my mind, there is no excuse for states to violate federsl law, and sanctusry cities should be abolished. This is another case of political correctness run amok, and the interests of law-breaking illegal immigrants are given priority ove the safety of Americsn lives. The case of Steinle (can't recall her first name) in California is a prime - and horrendous - example.

states are not violating federal law by not deporting illegals because states don't have the right to deport illegals.  That is the feds' job.  If they want them, they will come get them.

Also, some states have made pot legal even in DC, home of our fed. gov't. That is a violation of federal law, but the feds aren't going after the people because it's a small blib of a larger problem.  Same for illegals.  The feds  have larger game to catch - illegals who commit crimes. Wouldn't you say that should take precedence over a 6 yr old illegal immigrant attending  your precious FFX schools?

The complaint isn't about an illegal immigrant 6-year old attending our "precious Fairfax Schools" (can you possibly keep the condescion out of your replies?), but about dangerous criminals that sanctuary cities (county in this instance)  are shielding from the Feds, refusing to turn them over when directed.[/quote]
PP here. Sorry for the condescension.  So let's talk about the "dangerous" illegal immigrants.   Are there dangerous illegal immigrants that FFX county is shielding?  Can you name one?

In most states, and I believe CA as well, if an illegal immigrants is deemed "dangerous", ie a violent criminal past, the person is kept and handed over to ICE.  The man you refer to in the CA shooting had no violent criminal record at the time he was apprehended. That's why SF let him go.
