This is pretty much it.  In other parts of the US, white people mow their own lawns, clean their own houses, etc.  We have high incomes here and also pay lower income people more than they could get in other areas.  Yes, it costs more to live here, but lower income people are pretty savvy when it comes to knowing how to pinch pennies (like renting a room in an apartment and sharing kitchen, etc.).

The lifestyle here is just way different.  People have more money, but I often wonder if that money translates into a much higher quality of life.  We have congestion, pollution, lack of open space, etc.  [/quote]

This is the same thing I have observed. If the jobs weren't here or us citizens were willing to live servers families to a house, Hispanics would not be here doing the jobs.

We are some of the only people on our block who do our own yard work and don't hire Hispanics. I also make sure, as much as I possibly can, that people we hire to do work around the house are us citizens. I also pay more to hire native Virginians, Marylanders, etc..  We own an older house, drive older cars, but try to use our money in ways that help fellow US citizens. (and, not a Trump supporter, he also hires the cheapest labor he can.)[/quote]
