As a rapper she should have probably known the language that would be used. But I think the issue is her initial victim act was about the famous part which turns out she did know about. So she's know trying to spin it to be about the bitch part. Plus she's made a living writing songs that shamed others and even called out an actress as a whore in a dong. IMO you don't get to call someone a whore in your song and then get upset you were called a bitch. But hey-the truth hurts. [/quote]

He got her "permission" by pretending to be her friend.  He was probably just CYA because he knew that video was going to be way out of line especially in combination with those lyrics.

Taylor pretty much told him that she never would expect him to run the lines of his songs past her.  That was Kanye pretending to be a friend to her while covering his own azz.  I think he was deliberately deceptive.

People can see themselves in the songs, they may realize that they inspired her to write the songs, they may get attention for being the inspiration for the song but the songs could be about other people too and realistically they are probably about a combination of people/experiences.[/quote]

He is impulsive, that doesn't take away from the fact that he is talented and well connected in the industry.  He probably had sleazeball lawyers telling him how to get away with putting this crap out w/o being sued or thrown into jail for the taping of the phone call.

There is no protection from being referenced in a song, ask Britney/Lindsay/Christina/HRC/Trump/Bill/GWB. No one has to ask permission to take a dig at someone else in a song. You are correct, he can put disses to anyone he doesn't like in a song. But the only thing that 'happened' to Taylor was being exposed, and he didn't do that, she did that, by lying. She never asked him to run those lyrics past her at all.  He was the one who called her and pretended to be concerned about her feelings.  He sent her flowers, he flattered her, he made it seem like he wanted to be on friendly terms with her.  It's all on tape.  There is no question that he was being deceptive.  He didn't want to be her friend.  The song alone was bad enough but then to put that music video with it...you can not, with a straight face, say that Taylor has no reason to be upset.  You can not say that she has not been hurt by this.

The only ones benefiting from this are Kanye and Kim.

I can with a very straight face say that she was not hurt by the song. She was this week for sure, but not by the song. By the public exposure of her manipulating people. In fact the 'song' was good for her because she was able to get the whole public on her side thinking 'she got beat up by Kanye again and was so sad about it but is doing her best to keep her chin up.' The release of the videos exposed that that wasn't how it went down and she orchestrated a different chain of events.

I don't know why you think he was 'pretending.' I think he was being honest, have you heard his other songs? Have you listened to a lot of rap music? She could have not taken the call at all if she wasn't interested but she spent an hour on the phone with him discussing this. Think about the last person you spent an HOUR on the phone with. You don't spend that long on the phone with someone you're trying to shrug off. In the video she seems warm, confident, capable and willing to talk to him.

I think its ironic that you think I'm some anti TS. I think she's an amazingly accomplished woman...you do her a disservice if you think she isn't/wasn't strong enough to stand up for herself to Kanye if thats how she really felt. This is a woman who has been in complete control of her career from day 1. She is not naive or stupid, which you seem to want her to be. [/quote]
