My DH does make 50% more than me, but we are both in the 6 digits and our family could survive on either of our salaries. I'm sure you do work your ass off, but either a) she doesn't think about how you are financially supporting the family- maybe due generational differences, or b) she is just so proud of her son for being able to support your lifestyle (which I'm assuming she feels is a luxurious one).
