I am from Europe. a well  organized terrorist organization may get weapons anyway, but it must be well organized and thus susceptible to be found and defeated.  in my country and I guess in Germany, a random crazy cannot get up in the morning and buy high capacity magazines and assault weapons.  random crazies in the US can do that any day, and we see the results. oh, I forgot, even people on the FBI list of suspected terrorists can buy them, let's not violate their sacred 2 amendment rights.  I can't believe we are even having this discussion and how dumb some people in the US can be. [/quote]

The average person in the US cannot just "wake up any morning and buy an assault weapon". Perhaps, just like in your country, a well organized terrorist organization would have access to these, but really... A random crazy in the US doesn't have access to walk into a gun store and just buy a weapon. Don't be stupid. They MAY pass a background check, but you can't walk into a dollar store or walmart and just purchase guns willy nilly.

Uh, yes they can - just purchase from a private seller at a gun show or buy it on the net.  just like that - no check.  Further, even if there is a check, so many, many cracks in that system.
