People, the guy went into a cinema, fired 4 shots of pepper gas or similar from a gun meant to do just that. Not bullets. This is A LOT different than Orlando. Which of course makes you wonder what he would have done if he could have gotten his hands on a semi-automatic weapon.
Yep - it would have been exactly like Aurora.
Good thing some countries have tough gun laws.
+100000
+ more. I am from Europe. a well organized terrorist organization may get weapons anyway, but it must be well organized and thus susceptible to be found and defeated. in my country and I guess in Germany, a random crazy cannot get up in the morning and buy high capacity magazines and assault weapons. random crazies in the US can do that any day, and we see the results. oh, I forgot, even people on the FBI list of suspected terrorists can buy them, let's not violate their sacred 2 amendment rights. I can't believe we are even having this discussion and how dumb some people in the US can be.
The average person in the US cannot just "wake up any morning and buy an assault weapon". Perhaps, just like in your country, a well organized terrorist organization would have access to these, but really... A random crazy in the US doesn't have access to walk into a gun store and just buy a weapon. Don't be stupid. They MAY pass a background check, but you can't walk into a dollar store or walmart and just purchase guns willy nilly. Do we need better check? YES, we do, but don't be dramatic or disparaging.
Perhaps you missed the YouTube video of the 13 year old who failed at purchasing a lottery tickets and cigarettes, but successfully bought a rifle at a gun show.
How does that equate to "random crazies" buying guns? Is this kid a member of the jr nra, is he shooting rifles at boy scout camp - they all do, dont they? Your point makes zero sense as the average 13 year old cannot go and purchase a gun. One you tube video isn't the end all be all.
Are you disputing that background checks aren't required at gun shows? What's to stop anyone from buying a gun at one, crazy or not?
The gun show loophole... Ah. You're using one example of a 13 year old buying a rifle (not an assualt weapon) as a catch all to theorize this happens all the time and anywhere. You are wrong. ANYONE can exchange guns or gives a gun to someone. Federally licensed dealers must run background checks. 1. Federally licensed gun sellers are required to run background checks. But not all sellers are required to be licensed. Some of those unlicensed sellers sell at gun shows. 2. This is not a gun-show issue - it can happen any where. 3. I guarantee that just because this kid couldn't buy lottery tickets or cigs that other teens CAN and DO. I am not pro-gun, but I still say this one example being held to the standard of what happens in our country is a little ridiculous. Most guns used in mass shootings are purchased LEGALLY and most assailants have mental illness or some sort. Showing ONE 13 yr old can purchase a gun proves what in regards to mass shootings in america? http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2016/jan/07/politifact-sheet-3-things-know-about-gun-show-loop/
