Guess what- NO ONE CARES what you want to do, or if you have to wake your baby, or how far you have to drive, or where your husband is (big deal- his choice). You need to make it right- YOU are the parent of this child who stole/ removed a bathing suit, intentionally or not. If you refuse, you deserve the repercussions (no more invites, bill for new bathing suit, badmouthing, whatever else).[/quote]

Any reasonable person would not expect her to wake a baby and drive an hour or more round trip at 10 pm to return an easily replaced item.  That's much more atonement than necessary in this situation.[/quote]

It might not be as easily replaced as you think. If the kids are the same age and one is size 6 and the other is size 10, then the 10 is husky and probably needs a certain kind of fit. That sort of thing might be the reason the mom is freaking out.

Regardless, you should have simply returned it. We all know the baby would have fallen back asleep in the car. And what are you teaching your careless son? [/quote]
