I hug my teens, I give them high fives.  I don't remember the last time that I held their hands or they sat with their head on my shoulder, they were pretty little I think.  And I have a really great relationship with my kids.[/quote]

I think it is more odd that you never do any of those things with your kids. You are the adult and you are the reason it does not happen.

I can see holding their hands or having them rest their head on my shoulder if they were going through something very difficult - like a funeral of a close family member.

Why? Nobody is expecting a teen to cuddle with their parent, but holding a hand, putting you arm around them, putting their head on your shoulder for a moment is normal. Do you associate these things with sex? I don't. If you read about "love languages for teens" physical touch is a normal need teens have.[/quote]
