Wow, I see the thread has devolved. OP, the reliability data from JD Powers is there for you to see. Comparison reviews of Infiniti vs other makes are a quick search away. BMW is the benchmark in the G37/Q50 segment and it is there for a reason. If all you want is a good deal, Infiniti will definitely get you a good deal. But you'll be purchasing an inferior car in the process. Ultimately the decision is yours, but it is very important for you to make an informed decision by test driving all the cars. If at the end of the day, you feel that a Infiniti satisfies all your driving wants and needs, and comes in at a lower price point, then it is the correct choice. Maintenance costs and reliability concerns should not factor in the decision as previously illustrated. Good luck.
I disagree that the Infiniti is an inferior car compared to a BMW. It depends what model and how they are optioned. Many BMWs have little in the way of standard features. CR (and I agree) also finds Infinti to be better built cars than BMW. I personally hate German luxury cars and prefer Lexus and Infinti. But clearly, tastes are subjective.
If you buy cars like you buy a washing machine, by all means, go and read consumer reports about car rankings. This is the same company that first rated Tesla as the best car they've ever reviewed, and then took that away when the door handle failed to pop-out. This level of flip-flopping and knee-jerk reaction reveals an organization no longer focused on doing what they do best and are instead chasing after sensationalized news. JD Powers places Infiniti one slot above BMW in dependability, but it would be a stretch to say you would see any significant difference between the two brands for reliability. BMW 3 series cost more than the G37/Q50, this is not news. When you have an inferior product, you have to sell it for less. You can make the same point regarding Kia/Hyundai vs Honda. Again, it's up to the OP to decide what's more important, features/dollar, or the benchmark entry level luxury sports sedan. No one is saying that BMW is always the right choice for everyone, but claiming that Infiniti makes a better car is not conducive to a rational discussion because it has no basis in reality.
lol. Nobody is saying that the market value of BMW is higher. Idiots like you and other sheep have spoken. But "claiming that Infiniti makes a better car is not conducive to a rational discussion" is laughable when you acknowledge that the two leading quality studies, CR and JD Power, both rank Infiniti higher. LOL.
