I always go out of my way to be really nice to people in jobs like that. DMV, post office, towing, etc. They're just doing a job and it's not the worker's fault that the nature of the job puts you in confrontational situations.
Agreed 100%...sure, I've caught myself dropping the f bomb before to a Comcast rep (or someone in similar position) but then I catch myself and apologize as I know they're just doing their job and I'm incredibly frustrated by the situation. You catch more flies with honey anyway:)
I've taught my children that you should never, ever lose your temper or berate anyone in a service postion. I call it an adult temper tantrum. I had a career in public service and can tell you that if you approach me calmly and explain the problem, I will help you. However, if you immediately scream and yell and use curse words, you will waste my time (and I'll put you on hold if this is over the phone) and yours and I will be less likely to work with you. Be polite, calm and acknowledge the other person and it's amazing to what lengths clerks will go to to help and make the experience pleasant. Just be nice, people. Britt - if you spoke to me this way, I would have shut you down. I'd either find someone else to help you (and you could wait) or I'd tell you to stop the belittling comments. She would not have made more than one rude comment to me, period.
Um, Britt's not reading this. She is a millionaire TV personality and you "had a career in public service".
