I really think that a 14 month old who does what you described is well on the way to walking. The general consensus seems to be that 18 months is when you might want to take some action (my ped said this also when DS2 wasn't walking at 15 mo) but as you can see by this thread there are plenty of kids who walk in the 15-16 month range without issue. FWIW my older son walked at around 14.5 months and is now one of the sportiest kids around. So who knows if there's any rhyme or reason to it at all![/quote]
