Have you even looked at Takoma Park schools? Or are you referring to Takoma DC? Because Takoma Park schools are pretty good, and the Takoma EC in DC is also up and coming.
Not everyone wants to live in a tiny house in an area with poor schools, and be surrounded by a bunch of crunchy hippies. Just because someone is gay, doesn't mean they're a hippie. I looked in Takoma Park when I was buying, and I found the houses to be tiny, the yards sloppily maintained, and the driveways tiny or non-existent.
thanks, Takoma park pretty much sucks ass for modern sophisticated and tidy gay couples. People talk about it like it's amazing but in reality it's a piece of crap.
Got priced out, eh? Sure, there are some cheaper options in Takoma Park that have that 'lived in' look, but the historic district is full of gorgeous large homes that cost $$$$. Thing is, the folks in the more expensive houses don't look down on the more modest or quirky homes. Its a very live and let live place -- no HOAs or stepford assholes getting all up in their neighbors' business about their lawns or such.
People try to talk up TP as if it's a hip area like Old Town Alexandria. In fact it's a dump.
