No, it's really not obvious. I'm glad that you've never had to experience what the Op has and you should appreciate it. This is so true.  I'm currently living in a bad marriage (verbally and emotionally abusive, not physical).  I feel like I've lost what normal is.  My husband convinces me that everything is my fault, and all I do is try to be a better wife, so things will be better.  I don't want to break up my family, so I'm trying so hard.  I can't tell my friends or family about how my husband treats me because it's so damn embarrassing.  I've posted many times on here just to get a dose of reality and find what normal should be.
