For the umpteenth time, nobody disputes the existence of tunnels. My question regards that allegation made in the original post of this thread -- that hundreds of Palestinians would use the tunnels to attack civilians on Rosh Hashanah.

This is an extremely sensational allegation. This is the second thread posted on DCUM about that specific plan for an attack. I think it is entirely reasonable to ask for an authoritative source for this allegation that has now been posted twice.

So let's say the number is wrong, and  say, five Palestinians crawled out of a tunnel in Israeili military uniforms, and this time were not met by Israeli soldiers. And those Palestinians murdered a bunch of Israeli men, women, and children, and kidnapped others.  Would The IDF have lied because there were only 5 and not hundreds?

The only one I have accused of lying is you because you misrepresented things that I said. Since I have not seen a statement about the alleged attack from Netanyahu, the IDF, or the Israeli government, I have not and cannot accuse any of them of lying.
