I'm kind of embarrassed for all of you, except for the slob who admits people might just be being polite. I am 34 with 2 kids and I worry that I look older than that. Depending on how I am dressed people do make polite comments. Like when I was pregnant with no. 2 saying I don't look old enough to already have a kid...sure, it's nice to near but I take it with a grain of salt. There is huge variation in appearances at this age, so looking good is looking good- not looking like you're still in your 20a.
I'm the slob. Yes, I had the same reaction. Kind of embarassed for all these posters. Ladies, go hang around with people who are really in their 20s or very early 30s. You will be shocked. Because they look a lot younger than you. I think if the compliment is coming from a fellow old-ster, take it with a huge grain of salt. Everyone is telling each other what they would like to hear themselves and many of us probably don't see all that many 20-somethings on a day-to-day basis. (That depends on your job of course, if you work.)
This is so weird, b/c I (not the PP above me) was the 41yo slob poster. So now I am embarrassed that people will think this PP's commetns will be attributed to me - LOL! Or, maybe there is more than one slob writing on here!!! ;) Signed, original 41yo slob. ;)
Sorry I took ownership of your slob identity!! I'm 10:51 and I thought the poster was referring to me because I said people were just being polite. I take full ownership of my comments as Non-Slob or Slob #2...not embarassed at all!!
