I am wonder how a parent would determine 5 or 6 years ahead? I think MAP-R ends with 8th grade. Were they taking HS Geometry as a 4th grader? Is that Lexile level? My child lost three points total on the HGC test.. I don't know what her IQ is. She is a regular kid who does kid things like sports and piano. It is not like you need to be a composer or have designed a new computer ap to get in.
Here: http://www.nwea.org/sites/www.nwea.org/files/resources/2011_Normative_Data_Overview.pdf This is not the full report, but shows scores through 11th grade. In addition DC was a CTY - math and verbal qualifier. That test is an above grade level test. Last year DC took a language course through CTY and it used a college level text book. Likewise, my child is a regular kid - plays soccer, swims, has friends. These are just a few examples of how I know DC is more than just a few years ahead. It is my opinion that DC is right in the middle of the pack at the HGC. Lots of Ps and Is
