Don't want to highjack the thread, but not sure what to think of the rumor that one could ask the principal, and be able to stay in the school(specially 2nd/3rd/4th/5th grade) after moving out of school boundary. I own a condo and have been living IB for one of Wotp elementary schools. We just bought another condo 3 blocks away and are moving there, but it's IB for another school. We would like to keep him in his old school even though the new school is just as good if not better.
Talk to the principal of your current school, it is a principal discretion issue.
I presume the poster wanted to hear about experiences that others might have had, prior to talking to their own principal. Just a thought!
PP, here, my ex talked to the secretary, even though I asked him to talk to principal. The secretary said that our boy (going to 2nd grade) should be able to continue in his old school, but I'd like to hear it from the principal later tonight. Yes, I've yet to know anybody who was able to keep their old school.I really thought it's just a rumor that it's at principal's discretion. The person who told that they were going to move, but keep their kid at the old school, is still living in our building. I figured they wanted to move but were unable to keep their child's spot, so they stayed.
