I live in a part of McLean closer to Churchill/Langley, so I don't know the Lewinsville house area quite as well. But I think another major consideration you should be thinking about besides traffic is whether you really want to be part of a neighborhood/community in McLean. I think the first home looks nice but might be more isolated and doesn't seem to fit neatly into any neighborhood. Also, at that price point there are much nicer areas in great neighborhoods, on prettier streets with less traffic. BTW, I think the Churchill neighborhood basher is off their rocker. That is a very desirable neighborhood -- you'd have an instant, friendly community, especially if you have elementary aged children attending public school.
WHAT??!! Do you know ANYONE who lives there? It definitely seems not. There are intangibles you have no way of knowing unless you are in regular contact with different people that reside there. Such as, it is more of a cut through neighborhood, than you would have any reason to know (otherwise). In addition, the resident who insists on making Halloween an indication of day to day life there? Really? Anyone can trick or treat there. I have seen carloads of children being dropped off. Plenty of neighborhoods have great trick or treating. That doesn't make me or anyone who has been warned properly actually want to move there. Let's keep things in perspective. This sounds suspiciously like the Pimmit Hills poster. Which is fine for some people, but certainly not for most; and especially not for those who actually have choices. I suppose it would be fine if you bought in the 80's, and have no where else to go, for today's prices. Many places in McLean have sidewalks, especially if they are cut through neighborhoods (to the extent Churchill area is, which does not have sidewalks). Being in denial helps no one, especially those looking to make an investment for their children. I do not think it is fair to steer OP wrong, if you know what you are talking about. It is fine to be a cheerleader for your neighborhood, it is not fine to misrepresent information. OP, talk to parents whose children attend each school you are considering, and find out what the schools parents' reputation is, IRL.
Your posts are very odd, even by DCUM standards. They won't cause anyone to think twice about living in that neighborhood. They might cause people to avoid your current neighborhood, but I don't think you've disclosed where that is.
Maybe this person wants to put an offer in on the Churchill house and not have a competing offer. ;)
