Of course the family felt disappointed - if only for their child. Why do people get so condescending about parents who are involved with their kids' decisions or express disappointment that their child isn't able to get something they've worked for (i.e. "why are you worrying? it's your child going to school, not you…"). It's obnoxious and unnecessary. If you are really a parent who is completely hands off concerning your child and that works for you and your family then great, but other parents may handle things differently. And guess what…that's okay![/quote]
