OP had no choice to wait for her ex because the court probably mandated some holiday sharing schedule and if she violates it, he can use it as an excuse in a custody / child support battle. I agree OP sounds better off without this boyfriend. Perhaps there is often drama with the ex and the bf just got sick of dealing with it because he could imagine a future where his plans / commitments were always getting messed up due to drama with the ex.
