OP, any man who would be so heartless to break up w/you on Thanksgiving is a man whose presence you are much better off w/out trust me.

I know it hurts now and I won't try to trivialize your pain. Being dumped sucks.

But for someone to be this cold and callous to you...In the long run, you most definitely dodged a bullet.

Slow down people - isn't this the MOST likely explanation? OP had no choice to wait for her ex because the court probably mandated some holiday sharing schedule and if she violates it, he can use it as an excuse in a custody / child support battle.

I agree OP sounds better off without this boyfriend. Perhaps there is often drama with the ex and the bf just got sick of dealing with it because he could imagine a future where his plans / commitments were always getting messed up due to drama with the ex.

I am going to play devils advocate here. Maybe this was the last straw for him. Maybe he is tired of dealing with issues concerning the kid's dad.

There is more to this story than OP has revealed.

She sounds mature to me. Sounds like she didn't want to mix her dating life with her kid yet. I wish more single parents were like that.

Depends what the Ex boyfriend's reason for getting upset was. If it was "your child is welcome at my home yet you'd rather sit alone waiting for your ex husband than your son attend Thanksgiving at my family's house even though you call me 'the one,' then I feel like the ex boyfriend was right to be at least somewhat ticked.
